PHS 3.2

The PHS application provides an analytical tool for assessing thermal risk by calculating predicted heat strain. It utilizes the formulas specified in ISO 7933:2004, Ergonomics of the thermal environment, to generate visual and numerical summaries based on user-inputted data. While useful for exploring potential strategies to mitigate or manage thermal stress in various tasks or environments, the application should be regarded primarily as a guidance resource. It does not establish definitive safe or unsafe work limits.

It is important to note that several factors are not incorporated into the assessment, including individual health conditions and the use of specialized Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as impermeable suits. Additionally, the accuracy of predicted heat strain calculations diminishes when operating near the boundaries defined in Table A.1 of ISO 7933:2004.
